Lip blushing and lip neutralization are two permanent makeup techniques designed to enhance the lips’ color, shape, and definition. Here’s what they mean:

Lip Blushing
Lip blushing is a semi-permanent tattoo procedure that adds a soft, natural-looking tint to the lips. It uses a fine needle or machine to deposit pigment into the upper layers of the skin, creating a flushed or “just-bitten” effect. The goal is to enhance your natural lip color, improve symmetry, or define the lip line—think of it like a long-lasting lip stain. You can choose shades from subtle pinks to deeper reds, customized to your preference. It fades over 1-3 years and takes about 2-4 weeks to heal, often with a touch-up to perfect the result. It’s ideal for pale lips, uneven tones, or anyone wanting a low-maintenance pop of color.

Lip Neutralization
Lip neutralization is a corrective permanent makeup technique that adjusts the natural lip tone before adding color (like lip blushing). It’s used for lips with dark, cool, or uneven pigmentation—often due to genetics, smoking, or sun damage. The artist applies a specialized pigment (usually warm tones like orange or peach) to neutralize bluish, purple, or gray undertones, creating a more even, neutral base. Once healed, a final color can be layered on top if desired. It’s a bit more tailored than lip blushing alone, with healing and fading timelines similar (1-3 years). It’s perfect if your lips need a color reset before enhancement.

Both techniques are popular at MP Skin & Beauty for their ability to refine and beautify with minimal upkeep. Want more on how they’re done or which might suit you? Let me know!
